SUMMARY:Meetings with Eminent Agricultural Scientists from ICAR–NARES Institutes, New Delhi
DESCRIPTION:\nAs part of the CGIAR–Standing Panel on Impact Assessment (SPIA)–funded projects “Dynamics of Agricultural Innovation in North India” and “Dynamics of Agricultural Innovation in South India,” a series of interviews was conducted with eminent agricultural scientists in New Delhi from December 1 to 3, 2025. These scientists have held senior leadership positions in the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and the National Agricultural Research and Education System (NARES), and some of them continue to lead many institutions.\nGiven the central role of ICAR–NARES institutions in the development, adoption, and scaling up of all agricultural innovations in India, including those related to CGIAR institutions, these interactions were aimed at documenting the long-term partnerships between CGIAR centres and national institutions. This relationship has historically contributed to agricultural research and development in India.\nThe interviews were conducted by the project team from the Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS), comprising Sandipan Baksi, Director, and Tapas Singh Modak, Joint Director. Gaurav Datt, Associate Professor at Monash University, Australia, and one of the Principal Investigators for the projects, and Sherry Rachel Jacob, Principal Scientist at ICAR–National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources (NBPGR) and an affiliate expert to the project, also participated in the discussions.\nThe project team interviewed the following distinguished scientists:\n\n Dr. Rajendra Singh Paroda, Chairman, Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences, New Delhi, and Former Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi\nDr. D.
