SUMMARY:Visit by Professor Daizo Sugimoto
DESCRIPTION:Professor Daizo Sugimoto from Department of Economics, Meijo University, Japan, visited the Foundation for a week between January 08 and 13, 2024. During this visit, researchers at FAS got an opportunity to exchange various research ideas with the Professor. Professor Sugimoto is particularly interested in studying some aspects of rural economy in delta regions of India. As part of the trip, Professor Sugimoto visited the two villages Palakurichi and Venmani ( https://fas.org.in/events/revisiting-palakurichi-venmani-professor-sugimoto/ ) in the Lower cauvery Delta, studied by the FAS as part of its village studies programme. He also visited the village Alabujanahalli ( https://fas.org.in/events/alabujanahalli-sugimoto/ ) in Mandya district, Karnataka for a day. This village is located in the Cauvery-irrigated region of South Karnataka.\nTapas Singh Modak, Associate Fellow at FAS, Sethu C.
