About FAS: The Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS) is a charitable trust established in 2003 and based in Bangalore, India. It is engaged in field-based research on agrarian issues. The major objective of the Foundation is to facilitate multi-disciplinary theoretical and empirical research in the field of agrarian studies in India and other less-developed countries. The employee strength of the Foundation is around 12-15.

Position: Associate Research Fellow (entry-level).
Duration: Two years (extendable by one year based on performance).
Joining data: Immediate

Purpose: FAS invites applications for the position of Associate Research Fellow (entry level) for a new research project titled “The Dynamics of Agricultural Innovation in India” in collaboration with Monash University, Australia. The project aims to study the agricultural innovations in India, their adoption and implications.

Tasks:
• Planning and executing various activities under the project including data collection, processing, analysing, and report preparation.
• Monitoring and reporting on progress of various project activities.
• Systematic review of literature.
• Design and conduct qualitative interviews with various stakeholders.
• Design and conduct large-scale data collection activities for socio-economic and bio-physical variables pertaining to agricultural innovations in India.
• Contribute in publication, and dissemination of research results.
• Liaising with project partners, collaborators, consultants, and other stakeholders.
• Travel to different regions of India for project activities.
• Coordinating all project related events.

Essential requirements:
• PhD in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Economics, or Development Economics with relevant research experience.
• Strong understanding of scientific and technological development in Indian agriculture.
• Hands-on experience in statistical tools.
• Expertise in quantitative data analysis.
• Excellent publication record in peer-reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
• Experience in working with national and international research partners.
• Experience in handling/leading a small research team.
• Ability to critically assess the research design, analysis and findings.
• Knowledge of geographical information system (GIS) and remote sensing technologies
• Willingness to travel extensively as required.

Emoluments: As per the industry standard.
