Workshop on the Uttar Pradesh surveys under the Project on Agrarian Relations in India
On February 15, 2025, the Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS) conducted a workshop to discuss the results from the Uttar Pradesh surveys under the Project on Agrarian Relations in India. The workshop had scholars present their preliminary findings that explored various social and economic aspects of the survey villages.
The workshop covered a wide range of topics such as socio-economic differentiation in the villages including the peasantry and workers, shifts in household incomes, changes in landownership patterns and mobility, the economics of farming, livestock economy, changing educational profiles, housing and living standards, and credit.
The event was conducted in a hybrid format. Daya Susan Thomas, Deepak Johnson, Dona Safui, Kulvinder Singh, Kunal Munjal, Madhura Swaminathan, Niladri Sekhar Dhar, Rithika Pulagiri, Ritam Dutta, Sethu C.A., Shamsher Singh, V.K. Ramachandran, and Vijayamba R. presented their work.
Other participants included Ajil M., Arindam Das, Harshan T. P., Nikita Gupta, Noopur Verma, Rebecca Rose Varghese, Sandipan, and V. Sridhar.
The workshop concluded with an engaging discussion that provided valuable insights, contributing to the further refinement of the research papers.
