Session 3B- International Conference on Agrarian Change

Session 3B on Day 3 (November 8, 2025) of the International Conference on Agrarian Change was chaired by C. Veeramani (Director, Centre for Development Studies (CDS)). It featured speakers Sudipta Bhattacharyya (Professor, Department of Economics and Politics, Visva-Bharati University), Vijesh V. Krishna (Principal Scientist, CIMMYT), T. K. Kishore Kumar (Chief Operating Officer, UL CyberPark), and Simona Caselli (President, Assembly of European Horticultural Regions).

The session discussed MSP failure in an exclusionary agrarian structure, women’s self-help collectives under climate stress and market risks, labour cooperatives as models for inclusive development, and the transformation and cooperative resilience of Italy’s agrifood sector. The presentations highlighted unequal land ownership, coping strategies under triple exposure, worker-owned ventures for rural mobility, and decades of collective empowerment and sustainability.
