Session 3C- International Conference on Agrarian Change

Session 3C on Day 3 (November 8, 2025) of the International Conference on Agrarian Change was chaired by Jiju P. Alex (Member, Kerala State Planning Board). It featured speakers Niyati Singaraju (Postdoctoral Fellow, Gender Research, International Rice Research Institute (IRRI)), Sai Chandan Kotu (Senior Research Assistant, Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS)), Gopinath R. (Principal Scientist, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation), and C. A. Sethu (Senior Research Assistant, Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS)).

The session discussed digital transformation in agrifood systems, diffusion of drones in agriculture, water problems affecting paddy yield in the Cauvery Delta, and canal irrigation shaped by class, space, and water control. The presentations highlighted digital divides and ethics, caste–class dynamics in drone use, water scarcity and hierarchy in irrigation, and persistent inequalities in delta villages.
