Village-level Spatial Information using GIS Technique: Palakurichi, Tamil Nadu
The FAS has recently initiated a research project titled “Village-level Spatial Information using GIS technique: Palakurichi, Nagapattinam district, Tamil Nadu.” The project started as part of a collaborative study with the Department of Economics, Yokohama National University, Japan.
Under this project, Tapas Singh Modak and Sethu C.A. from the FAS visited the Palakurichi village between January 19 and January 25, 2021. The purpose of this field visit was to collect Differential Global Positioning System (DGPS) points across the village for geo-referencing of the village maps. A census-type household survey was conducted in Palakurichi in May–June 2019 by the Foundation as part of its project on ‘Agrarian Relations in the Lower Cauvery Delta’.
