Call for Papers

The Foundation for Agrarian Studies invites articles for its International Conference on Agrarian Change, scheduled for November 6–9, 2025.

 

Submit Abstract

ELIGIBILITY

  • Submissions are open to researchers and practitioners working on agrarian issues.
  • Early-career researchers and doctoral students are encouraged to apply.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

  1. Authors must submit an extended abstract of 1000 words outlining the research question, methodology, key arguments, and expected contributions.
  2. The abstract should pertain to subjects listed under the conference themes. (See details below)
  3. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by a committee of experts.
  4. The abstracts should be submitted in .docx or .pdf formats.
  5. The last date for submission of abstract is June 30, 2025

FULL PAPER SUBMISSION

  • Selected authors will be invited to submit full papers (6,000–8,000 words) after abstract review.
  • Accepted papers will be presented in thematic sessions.
  • The last date for submission of the full paper is September 10, 2025.

Under this theme, papers are invited on:

  • Rural socio-economic classes
  • Women in the rural labour force
  • Economic conditions of people of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes of India and other victims of sectional social discrimination
  • Incomes from agriculture and related activities
  • Contemporary agrarian movements
Poverty and Standards of Living
in Rural Areas
Under this theme, papers are invited on:

  • Concepts and measurement of poverty, deprivation, and human development
  • Trends in poverty and rural wages and earnings
  • Poverty and living standards among rural workers, including poverty with respect to access to land and productive assets, to food and nutrition insecurity, and to housing and basic amenities
  • Strategies of poverty reduction
  • Growing inequalities in wages, incomes and wealth, including rural-urban inequality and their implications, in particular, for women in rural economies
The Role of Modern Science and Technology
in Advancing Agriculture
Under this theme, papers are invited on:

  • Scientific and technological transformations in agriculture, fisheries, animal resources, and related fields
  • Biotechnology and agricultural advancement
  • Digital technologies and agricultural advancement
  • Problems of scale in agricultural and rural production
  • Scientific assessments of approaches to sustainability
The Impact of Climate Change on
Agriculture and Rural Development
Under this theme, papers are invited on:

  • Climate adaptation and its impact on production and inequality
  • Inequality on the scale and scope of mitigation in agriculture
