About FAS: The Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS) is a charitable trust established in 2003 and based in Bangalore, India. It is engaged in field-based research on agrarian issues. The major objectives of the Foundation are to facilitate multi-disciplinary theoretical and empirical research in the field of agrarian studies in India and other less-developed countries. The employee strength of the Foundation is around 12-15 employees.
Work location: Bengaluru
Reporting to: Director, Foundation for Agrarian Studies
Purpose:
FAS seeks to immediately hire a Coordinator (Communication and Events) to aid its outreach efforts. The coordinator would be responsible for conceptualising, planning and executing events (in-person and virtual), outreach activities, and content management (website and social media) for the Foundation. Their work would be crucial to showcasing extensive research that the Foundation conducts to a wide audience comprising senior researchers, young scholars, students, grassroots activists and the general public.
The Coordinator (Communication and Events) will closely work with the Director of the Foundation, and will be located at the Foundation’s office in Bengaluru. A minimum commitment of two years is expected.
Responsibilities
- Familiarising with the Foundation’s research goals and outputs
- Planning and organising all online and hybrid academic events of the Foundation
- Designing press packages and other communication for the events of the Foundation
- Planning and executing social media campaigns for the Foundation
- Drafting, designing and posting content on social media pages of the Foundation on a
regular basis - Managing the website of the Foundation
- Producing written and multimedia content on specific themes
Selection Criteria
Education and Experience
- 0-1 years of experience
- Candidates with a Master’s degree in Communications, Journalism or any other related field
Key Skills
- Prior experience with free graphic design tools such as Canva, GIMP, or Krita
- Hands-on experience with Office applications like Word, Excel and Powerpoint
- Basic familiarity with audio and video editing software such as Da Vinci Resolve
- Strong aesthetic sense and attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills — spoken and written English language skills
- Ability to digest research ideas and results
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
- Ability to adhere to multiple timelines
Remuneration: Commensurate to the experience of the candidate
