Editorial Assistant  –  Closed

Work location: Bengaluru

Reporting to: Editor, Review of Agrarian Studies

Purpose:

FAS seeks to immediately hire an Editorial Assistant for Review of Agrarian Studies (RAS), the online and print journal of the Foundation. The Editorial Assistant will work closely with the Editor and will be responsible for bringing out the biannual journal and overseeing the RAS website. Further, the Editorial Assistant will provide assistance for the preparation of books published by the Foundation.

The Editorial Assistant will be expected to work from the office of the Foundation for Agrarian Studies in Bengaluru. A minimum commitment of two years is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Commission articles
  • Handle all correspondence pertaining to the Review
  • Manage new submissions
  • Maintain the journal’s social media presence
  • Copy-edit / proofread according to the journal’s style sheet
  • Assist the editor with content management
  • Support the preparation of books published by the Foundation for Agrarian Studies

Selection Criteria

Education and Experience

  • Two or more years of experience in an editorial environment
  • Candidates with a Master’s degree in English. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in English and postgraduate degrees in other social science disciplines with comparable language skills will also be considered

Key Skills

  • Excellent English language skills, particularly for academic writing
  • Excellent organisational and project management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and familiarity with Google Sheets and Google Docs
  • Working knowledge of citation styles and digital research and publishing tools such as Google Scholar
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of or interest in economics and village studies (desired)

Remuneration: Commensurate to the experience of the candidate
