Research Assistant – This Position is now filled

Job location: Bengaluru

Reporting to: Director, Foundation for Agrarian Studies

Minimum Commitment Required: Six Months

Purpose:

FAS seeks to immediately hire a Research Assistant for six months, from May/June to October/November, 2024 (extendable based on work requirement).

The Research Assistant will closely work with the Director of the Foundation. The selected candidate will work out of the Foundation’s office in Bengaluru.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting archival work,
  • Preparing literature reviews,
  • Assisting in conducting interviews,
  • Assisting in preparing research notes and proposals.

Selection Criteria

Education and Experience:

  • Candidates with a Master’s degree in Social Science subjects such as History, Development Studies, Science and Technology Studies, Sociology, Journalism and Media Studies, with specific interest in Science & Technology, and Society and/or History of Science and Technology will be preferred.
  • Relevant experience in conducting research.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, particularly Natural Language Processing.

Key Skills:

  • Ability to conduct a thorough literature review and present effective summaries.
  • Excellent English language skills, especially for academic writing.

Personality:

  • Willingness to learn, grow and develop at a professional level.
  • Ability to work closely with a tight-knit team.
  • Ability to adapt and deliver under deadlines in a professional environment.
  • Striving for rigour in research and quality in work output.
  • Willingness to carry out research independently.

Remuneration: 

Commensurate to the candidate’s experience
