Availability and Accessibility of Drinking Water: Evidence from Three Districts of West Bengal
Ritam Dutta and Rakesh Mahato presented a paper titled, “Availability and Accessibility of Drinking Water: Evidence from three districts of West Bengal” on June 15, 2017 at the office of the Foundation. This was a revised version of a paper they had recently presented in a conference in the National Institute of Rural Development, Hyderabad.
The paper attempts to provide an insight into the availability and accessibility of safe drinking water in rural West Bengal, through an analysis of household level data collected from three villages in West Bengal, by the Foundation for Agrarian Studies under its Project on Agrarian Relations in India (PARI) in 2010 (census survey) and 2015(sample survey). It also makes an attempt to explain the differential access to safe drinking water in through socio-economic factors like caste and class.
