Discussion on Findings from Bihar Survey
A preliminary discussion on findings from the Bihar Round of Project on Agrarian Relations in India (PARI) was held at the office of the Foundation on November 10 – 11, 2018.
Two villages in Bihar — Katkuian, West Champaran district, and Nayanagar, Samastipur district — were surveyed by the Foundation in May-July 2012, and in June 2018. The data collected through these two rounds of surveys have been processed and analysed by the research team at FAS. The results from the analyses were discussed in detail during the two days.
The presentations covered the following topics: an overview of the agrarian economy of Bihar, socio-economic classes in the two study villages of Bihar, tenancy and mortgage, labour and employment, indebtedness and credit, economics of farming, household incomes, education, and household amenities.
These results would now be presented before the members of the Kisan Sabha at a workshop to be held in Bangalore on December 22-23, 2018.
