Reporting on the Household Survey of Venmani and Palakuruchi Villages
The Foundation for Agrarian Studies has recently completed a detailed household level survey of two villages, Venmani and Palakurichi, in Nagapattinam district of Tamil Nadu, as part of a study titled “Agrarian Relations in the Lower Cauvery Delta.”
Sethu C. A., the Survey coordinator, presented a brief report at the Foundation office on July 04, 2019. A total of 810 households were surveyed over a span of 55 days. The survey team constituted of more than 25 researchers and students from various institutes, including Madras School of Social Sciences Work, Madras Institute of Development Studies, Madras University, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (Hyderabad), and The Gandhigram Rural Institute.

This completes the first phase of the study. The data entry process is already underway. Sanjukta Chakraborty, senior data analyst at FAS, will be leading the team which consists of M. Sai Rishik, R. Jancy Rani, Rakesh Kumar Mahato, Sangeetha R., and Sethu C.A.
