FAS organised an event, ‘Studying Women’s Work: Women Farmers in India,’ on March 29, 2021. This talk was an attempt to expand our understanding of women’s work in agriculture, their role in farming, and the issues and demands specific to them. The speakers for this event were Madhura Swaminathan, Professor of Economics at ISI (Bangalore), and Jagmati Sangwan, AIDWA Vice-President. Madhura spoke on the role of women in farming in India while Jagmati shed light on women’s voices in the ongoing farmers movement. view event

Panel Discussion on Findings from Telephone Surveys

Safe, Affordable, Nutritious Food Year Round: Global Aspirations to Local Application for Nutrition

Roundtable | 2020 International Borlaug Dialogue

Recognizing the global call to achieve safe, affordable, nutritious food year-round, our food systems must deliver on multiple fronts; delivering nutrition is non-negotiable. While we must address needs at the global level, we also must focus on national and subnational efforts to deliver nutrition interventions at the local level. The most vulnerable individuals, including pregnant and lactating women and children in the first 1,000 days of life, must be at the core of policies reducing under-nutrition. Sustainable food systems also are non-negotiable. This roundtable will consider the trade-offs between different diets that must address these issues to fill significant and diverse nutrition gaps. view event video
