FAS at Young Scholars’ Workshop on “Rural and Agrarian Realities”

Arindam Das, Joint Director of the Foundation, participated in the Young Scholars’ Workshop on “Rural and Agrarian Realities: Critical Perspectives and Emerging Trends”, held on October 16–17, 2025, at GITAM (Deemed to be) University, Hyderabad.

Organised by the Department of Sociology in collaboration with the Indian Sociological Society (ISS), the workshop featured research paper presentations by young scholars and panel discussions with eminent scholars. The event received media coverage, including in Deccan Vision.

At the workshop, Arindam presented a paper titled “Method of Village Studies: Insights from the Primary Surveys,” where he discussed the Foundation’s Project on Agrarian Relations in India (PARI). He highlighted the significance of village studies in uncovering aspects often overlooked by official sources, emphasising their crucial role in understanding rural realities in a country like India.
