The visit was part of the ongoing project titled “Comprehensive Research on Canal Irrigation System and Agriculture in the Cauvery River Basin.” The project examines the challenges facing agriculture under surface irrigation systems, particularly in the context of adverse climatic conditions, and explores their implications for farmers at the village level. The village of Alabujanahalli served as the principal field site for this visit.
The fifteen-day field visit was conducted in two phases: the first from September 21 to 27, 2025, and the second from October 8 to 15, 2025. The team carried out household surveys with farmers across different sections of the village economy, conducted detailed case studies, and interviewed key administrative officials from the Upper Cauvery Basin region.
