The Foundation for Agrarian Studies conducted a socio-economic survey in Panduvva and Yendagandi, two villages in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, over a period of 45 days during June and July, 2026. The survey was carried out in two stages: first, a household listing covering approximately 1850 households, followed by a detailed sample survey of 380 households. The survey was a part of the village studies programme of the Foundation, which has till date covered 29 villages across 12 states in the country.
An in-house discussion to share the first impressions from the field visits was organised by the Foundation on August 13, 2026. This session gave an opportunity to reflect on a range of themes including the changing production structure and economy of the villages, agriculture and irrigation, use of fertilisers, aquaculture, tenancy, migration and migrant labour, household and gender dynamics, government schemes, housing and waste management.
