Youth-Led Digital Futures for Food-Land-Water Systems

The Foundation for Agrarian Studies (FAS), in collaboration with the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), is undertaking a project titled “Youth-Led Digital Futures for Food-Land-Water Systems: Exploring Roles, Opportunities and Challenges,” under the CGIAR Digital Transformation Accelerator (DTA) programme.
The study examines the role of rural youth, particularly young women, in shaping inclusive and responsible digital futures for agriculture in India. It will explore how young people engage with digital agriculture tools and advisory ecosystems, including mobile-based services, social media, drones and AI-enabled services, and how they assess and adapt digital information in everyday farming and livelihood decisions.

As part of the project, the FAS team carried out a field visit to Nalgonda district, Telangana, from August 24 to September 11, 2026.
